Los Angeles is located right on the Pacific Ocean and is fortunate to have an abundance of fresh seafood. And that’s not to mention the fish from all over the world that is flown into this great culinary city every day. Where to eat seafood in LA? A good seafood restaurant is about more than just taste. It’s important to find restaurants that not only know how to prepare fish well but also source their fish sustainably and ethically. Most fish populations are currently overfished and some aquacultures are destroying habitats. But that doesn’t have to be the case and we can make a difference by choosing where we spend our money.

The city brings together the best chefs from around the world so you can find everything from Mexican to New England-style seafood. Note: This seafood list does not include sushi restaurants of which there are many in Los Angeles and that category deserves its own list.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles Holbox is actually a stall in Mercado La Paloma a food court-style market in South Los Angeles that’s been around since 2001. Chef Gilberto Cetina knows how to serve up some excellent Yucatan-style seafood from this stall. I’m not the only one who thinks so — the restaurant recently earned its first Michelin star. Cetina sources the freshest seafood mostly from California and Baja California.
