Let it be known that I am a huge proponent of using a traditional corkscrew to open a bottle of wine. Especially since I spent an entire day learning how to use one properly during my waitressing days long ago. After opening several bottles and shredding my fair share of corks I got the hang of it and have never looked back.
However I know that we don’t always dine in fancy restaurants with waiters opening bottles of wine for us. I also know that the corkscrew often gets lost at the most inconvenient times. For these reasons it’s good to have some tricks up your sleeve on how to open a bottle of wine when you don’t have a corkscrew.
