1. Sweaty nights
Yes, we all felt like zombies the next day after experiencing yet another sleepless night in the middle of summer. However, there is a fairly simple trick to restore a little freshness to your bed. Simply place a cold compress from the freezer under your pillow and your head should stay nice and cool while you sleep.
2. DIY cooling unit
If your fan isn't doing the trick, here's a nifty way to make your own DIY cooling unit.
You will need:
– fan
– lighter
– Screwdriver
– 2 plastic bottles
– cutter
– thread
– ice cubes
Here's how:
2.1 Use a lighter to heat the end of a screwdriver and make holes in the bottom half of the two plastic bottles.
2.2 Cut off the lower end of the bottles using a cutter.
2.3 Use wire to attach the two bottles to the fan with the cap facing down.
2.4 Fill both bottles with ice cubes and turn on the fan. You will quickly feel that the air is much fresher. Once the ice cubes are melted, simply drain the water using the stopper and add new ones.
3. Homemade sprinkler
If you have a garden, this is the perfect tip to beat the summer heat. Kids and pets will love this one too!
You will need:
– plastic bottle
– drill
– electrical tape
– garden hose
Here's how:
3.1 Use a drill or, as in tip #2, a hot screwdriver to make several holes in a plastic bottle.
3.2 Remove the bottle cap and insert a garden hose into the opening. Seal the opening with electrical tape and turn on the water.
4. Cool drinks quickly
Nothing is more refreshing in hot weather than a cold drink. If you want the bottle to cool faster, simply wrap a few sheets of damp paper towel around it. Place the bottle in the freezer and your drink will be cold in no time.
5. Stuffy cars
Cars heat up extremely quickly in the sun. Before driving, you will need to ventilate it well. First, close all windows. Next, open the driver's door and let fresh air into the cabin. The air stream should cool the car quickly and you are good to go.
Now you're ready to face the summer heat with these 5 clever tips. Remember to drink enough fluids and dress as lightly as possible during these particularly hot days. Have a good summer!
