There are many types of snap beans but they can all be divided into two types: bush or pole beans. These two categories refer to the way the beans are grown. Bush beans grow on a short bushy plant while pole beans (also called runner beans) grow as climbing vines that require a trellis or pole. Many of the types of snap beans listed below come in both bush and pole types.
