Apple AirPods: practical tip for controlling the volume

More details on how the Apple Watch Digital Crown can adjust the volume of audio streamed through Apple AirPods from any audio source.

– I use an Apple Watch Series 2

– The Now Playing app must be running for this to work. If you do not initially launch Now Playing, the Digital Crown will not adjust the volume.

– To keep the Now Playing app working, in the Settings app, go to General – Wake Screen and select /"Always/" or /"Within 1 hour of last use". This ensures that the Now Playing app remains running when the watch screen turns off.

– UPDATE – In Watch OS 4, the Now Playing app automatically launches when playing audio on your phone.

– To adjust the volume, turn the digital crown. If the screen is off, turning the crown will first raise the screen and then adjust the volume.
