Apple TV app on Samsung TVs

Apple released its app for Samsung TVs as part of its expansion to other platforms initially promoted at CES. The app is designed to mimic much of what's found through the TV app found on Apple TV streaming boxes with a few notable changes.

The Apple TV app on Samsung TVs allows users to purchase or rent content from Apple, much like the iTunes app used on Apple devices. The Apple TV application on Samsung televisions also provides access to content available from its various partners. For example, Starz currently has access to Spiderman Homecoming. So the Apple TV app offers the choice between buying the movie from Apple or watching it through Starz.

On the other hand, the Apple TV app for Samsung will not connect all the Smart TV apps on the Samsung TV into a single interface, like the TV app does on Apple's IOS and TVOS devices. So if you're looking for a categorized grouping of shows from Hulu, Crackle, and Tubi, etc., you still need an Apple TV.
