Here's why Apple's self-repair program is pretty bad.
Self-repair lords iFixit have themselves criticized Apple for making self-repair far more difficult than it needs to be.
For example, if you want to replace the battery of your MacBook M1, it is only a part that will age and deteriorate in a few years.
You pretty much have to take the entire computer apart, follow the steps in a 160 page manual, and pay around 600 for a new battery.
Why is the battery so expensive, well it's because you can't just buy a new battery, you HAVE to also buy a new battery as well as a new top case.
Personally, I think Apple doesn't really want to make self-repair that easy and instead make it frustrating and expensive enough that you can't even try it and just buy a new machine.
