During a visit to Barranquilla Colombia I had the chance to try an arepa de huevo. My friend gave me the recipe and now it is a special treat. The fried dough combined with the egg is indescribable. What a tasty dish!

1 cup precooked white cornmeal (such as PAN®)
½ teaspoon white sugar (optional)
vegetable oil for frying
