Best and Worst Paying States for Chefs and Head Chefs in 2019

One of our key findings was a substantial increase in the average wage of a chef. At $52160 per year wages for chefs and head cooks reached a record high higher than the national average wage.

Wage growth and pay in general are not uniform across the U.S. with chefs in some states getting paid significantly more than others. But that’s hardly surprising since it’s no secret that salaries in the U.S. fluctuate based on location.

We took a fresh look at salary differences between locations to find out where chefs and head cooks are paid significantly more (or less) than the average American.
