The best pre- and post-workout smoothies contain a mix of healthy proteins and carbohydrates. Smoothies are an ideal pre- and/or post-workout snack or meal because they’re portable endlessly customizable and give you a boost without feeling overly full. For best results drink at least 30 minutes before your workout and eat something immediately afterward. You can even drink half of it before your workout and the rest afterward. And while smoothies have the added benefit of helping to hydrate you always remember to drink plenty of water as well.
