In a previous post about Halloween ice cream I discussed my need as a child to whisper incantations to keep Mom away from my Almond Joy. It was a bit of a hasty comment since I had to discuss the important matter of pumpkin and brownie ice cream but there’s still time for a confession before the holidays. Mom didn’t just steal the Almond Joy. She stole the Snickers.
Okay the seriousness of that comes across as flat in written form. But when I was a kid candy was bigger in math than soda and new toys put together and Snickers was the rightful king of the candy pile. So when Mom stole the Snickers I didn’t take it lightly.
