The National Payments Corporation of India has updated the BHIM app, available on Google Play Store.

The BHIM app, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-based payment app launched last month by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has received a major update. Currently only available on Android, the BHIM app has now been updated to v1.2, bringing new features and fixes.

In a press release, NPCI detailed the key additions that come with the BHIM v1.2 application. The most important of these is support for seven additional regional languages. Although it was launched in English and Hindi, the app is now available in Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil and Telugu.

BHIM app for Android v1.2 also adds Pay to Aadhaar number payment option, with which users can transfer money to the Aadhaar number linked to the beneficiaries' bank account. Another new feature is the spam reporting feature, which NPCI will help block unknown people asking for money. NPCI has also added an enhanced customer redress mechanism.

Other new features of the BHIM app for Android include enhanced privacy settings as well as the option to opt out of mobile@upi number; the ability to retry mobile registration via OTP/USSD; the ability to choose the SIM card on dual SIM phones; the ability to restore the forgotten password; the possibility of reporting problems to banks and viewing the resolution status, and finally, the possibility of canceling a payment received.

The updated BHIM app is now available via Google Play.

AP Hota, MD & CEO, NPCI, commented on the launch of the new version of the BHIM app, saying, “We are happy to launch the new upgrade for all BHIM users. The new version offers improved security features and a superior user experience. making digital transactions much safer and more secure. We believe this will lead to greater acceptance among customers as well as merchants. At NPCI, we remain committed to a customer-centric approach by constantly innovating and improvising our services./"

BHIM – which stands for Bharat Interface for Money – was launched on December 30. At that time, NPCI said the app was also expected to launch on iOS – but so far it has yet to make its way to the app. Store.
