Add frozen blueberries to alcohol and make a delicious blueberry liqueur that makes a wonderful gift. It is better to use frozen berries than fresh berries because of the organic breakdown that occurs when the fruit is frozen.

Blueberry liqueur is easy and quick to make

1 (12 ounce) package frozen blueberries thawed

Mash thawed blueberries in a bowl with a fork; place in a sterilized 1-liter jar. Add lemon zest and cloves then pour in vodka. Seal the jar and leave to mature in a cool dark place for 3 months shaking gently every few days.

After 3 months strain and discard the blueberries. Strain through cheesecloth into another sterilized 1-liter jar. Add simple syrup seal the jar tightly with the lid and shake until the syrup is dissolved. Let ripen for at least another month in a cool dark place.
