Butter + Tomatoes = The most underrated combination ever.
About once a week throughout my entire growing up my mother would make a very simple side dish: pasta with a sweet buttery tomato sauce.
She usually used elbow macaroni because our standard Catholic family meal which features fish on Fridays usually included a small bowl of tomato pasta.
Mom just made extra macaroni and stirred in the tomato sauce. She did this because my dad asked for it and he wanted it because his mom used to make it for him back in Minnesota (in the 30's and 40's).
