Caipirinha Cocktail Recipe
Serious Mealtimes / Vicky Wasik
Consider the caipirinha the Brazilian cousin of the daiquiri.
The basic trio of ingredients is the same for both drinks made with fresh lime sugar and sugarcane-based liquor. But while the daiquiri uses rum as its base – typical of the light crisp Cuban style – the caipirinha uses rum’s Brazilian cousin cachaça which has a more rustic aroma and flavor. And while the daiquiri opts to spice up the drink with just the juice of a lime the caipirinha throws the whole lot into the mix.
