Yes there is a recall of canned coffee in the US due to the risk of botulism

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has just announced a voluntary recall of all Snapchill LLC canned coffee products that have not yet passed their expiration dates. This is because the company’s manufacturing process may not prevent the growth and production of botulism a potentially deadly toxin.

The recall is voluntary because there have been no reported illnesses to date. Snapchill was contacted by the FDA to inform them that the process they use to can the coffee has not been filed with the FDA as required by regulation.

Botulism is a potentially fatal disease. Symptoms can occur anywhere from six hours to two weeks after eating contaminated food. Symptoms of botulism include general weakness dizziness double vision difficulty speaking or swallowing difficulty breathing muscle weakness bloating and constipation. If you have any of the symptoms of botulism seek immediate medical attention.
