A common problem that occurs for Apple iPhone or iPad users is the inability to delete apps. When you long press on the screen, an "X" does not appear in the upper left corner of the icon as expected.

Solution 1:

The common reason there is no "X" is a restriction setting. Perhaps this setting was set accidentally and forgotten.

Open “Settings”.
Select “General”.
Choose “Restrictions”.
Enter the password set for restrictions.
Change the “Application Removal” setting to “On” (green) so that it is allowed.
Once you've made sure this setting is enabled, you should be able to delete apps without issue.

Another reason the X may not appear is because it is an app built into Apple iOS. Apps such as Notes, Newsstand, and Calendar cannot be deleted.

Solution 2:

If you're using an iPhone that detects your tap pressure, make sure to lightly touch and hold the app icon, the "X" should appear. When you're done, press the "Home" button to return to the normal home screen. This seems to be the most common problem.
