She is the recipient of a Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism Award of Excellence for Diversity Writing an award from the American Association of Sunday and Features Editors and numerous first-place awards from the Association of Food Journalists and the Peninsula Press Club.

Carolyn was also a finalist for an International Association of Culinary Professionals award for narrative food writing. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including The San Francisco Chronicle The Nob Hill Gazette Wine Spectator Art Culinaire Coastal Living Food Arts Silicon Valley Magazine and Edible Marin & Wine Country. Before devoting her time to food writing she was a longtime news reporter for The Mercury News. She is also the author of the cookbooks San Francisco Chef's Table and East Bay Cooks. She is also the creator of the blog FoodGal.com.
