This cake came out of the oven and I immediately thought to myself "this cake is so ugly that no one will want to eat it." It was as if the cake read my mind and at that moment it completely gave up. Over the next ten minutes it blew itself out and became what I can only describe as a compact curved block of chocolate fudge. Or what I will always think of as an ugly chocolate cake. I set it aside went out for the night came back the next morning and cut off a thin slice. The cake was still a sight to behold but it was perfect in so many other ways that I can't share it with you – deep chocolate flavor barely noticeable crumb in the center and a thin brown sugar crust.
