Mostly because I have little interest in telling you how to spend your hard-earned money this is not a gift guide. But ahem I buy a few kitchen-related items every year and I thought I'd list a few of the highlights from 2016. [Here's the 2015 list that still gets a lot of use.] Most of them are remarkably basic since I had to replace supplies (cough awkward) but many are easy because I'm incredibly stubborn and it actually took me this long to buy a second set of measuring cups and spoons some aprons and a coffee maker. Not all of these things may fit neatly into ribbon-lined boxes—except for that deliciousness at the end of course—but I can promise you they get a lot of mileage in a high-use kitchen and as always I bought them myself.

Kitchen Items I've Bought and Love 2016 Edition

I don’t make coffee. My list of excuses is a mile long — it never tastes good I don’t have room for anything to put in my French press I always have a puddle of gunk please don’t make me buy a kettle etc. — but it mostly comes down to the fact that I work from home my morning coffee stop after school is often the social highlight of my workday and a great time to schedule meetings. And running errands with a hot cup of coffee in your hands on a cold day makes running errands much more enjoyable. But this was becoming increasingly annoying and I’m so glad I came across it. This coffee maker is perfect for me — it’s small only needs a stovetop and is sturdy — and it took me very quickly to become a person who preferred making my own coffee over the kind I can buy — you get it exactly how you like it every time. Plus I make a little bit every time I make coffee and it’s nice to know that I’m wasting a lot less money these days.

[When I posted a Snap of this a few months ago I got a lot of requests for a tutorial. Let me know if there's any interest and I can write it up. I've followed a lot of them online and was still baffled by how to make a half pot which is usually what I need when I'm solo. Update: Here's your tutorial!]
