Just like sometimes life calls for a naked Saturday or an evening of doing nothing but eating ice cream and watching touching documentaries on Netflix that make you cry about the personal triumphs of others. Because sometimes the only thing that can satisfy that itch in life is a little self-indulgence.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Waffles | Minimalist Bakery Recipes

While I would classify these waffles as an “indulgence” treat they are definitely a healthy indulgence. With no added sugars other than what’s in the chocolate chips loads of fiber from old-fashioned oatmeal and tons of banana flavor from two whole bananas I don’t feel one bit guilty about eating them as a weeknight treat or a slow weekend breakfast — and you shouldn’t either.

I didn’t call these banana bread waffles that for nothing: it’s a quicker way to make banana bread that mimics the flavor down to a tee. And when there are chocolate chips in the mix I call it a party. So consider this a (healthy) breakfast party in your mouth.

They are easy to make requiring just 1 bowl 30 minutes and simple ingredients plus they are gluten-free and naturally sweet (minus the chocolate chips)!
