In Chile for example it is common to spend Christmas holidays on the beach in T-shirts and flip-flops. So it would make sense to eat lighter food at Christmas right?

Well that’s not entirely the case as Chilean cuisine is largely influenced by European roots. So yes it’s traditional to eat turkey or roast meat there as well as other heavy dishes along with plastic Christmas trees fake snow warmly dressed and sweaty Santa Clauses and yes even Christmas carols full of references to snow and cold weather!
