I'm probably going to get all kinds of responses to this one ranging from "Amen!" to "Heresy!" but before you start sharpening your keyboard let me say one more thing: the martini is a lot more flexible than you might think.
Nowadays it’s common to order one at a bar and be served a glass of something clear and cold – a big chilled shot of gin or let’s face it vodka with nothing in it but a giant olive or three. With all due respect that’s not a martini. That’s just cold liquor and there’s no harm in ordering one if you want to.
