For many people the New Year brings resolutions to change for the better. But big businesses and corporations aren’t immune to this promise of a clean slate and they also hope for the change that a new year can bring. Costco — everyone’s favorite place to get rotisserie chicken or the famous $1.50 hot dog — is one big company expecting big changes in 2024.

Big Changes at Costco in 2024
During one of Costco’s late 2023 earnings calls Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti warned that membership fees will increase and that “it’s a matter of when not if” according to USA Today. Membership fees have remained the same since 2017 when they rose from $55 to $60 for a Gold Star membership and from $110 to $120 for an Executive membership. Additionally customers could also face hidden fees when shopping at Costco if they’re not careful. While there’s no guarantee the price increase will happen in 2024 it would make sense given the other changes the company has announced coming this year.
Richard Galanti also shared that Costco will be opening 31 new stores in 2024 so if this news wasn’t relevant to you in the past you may have a store near you soon. Some of those new locations will be in Daytona Florida; Mt. Juliet Tennessee; and Richmond Texas. In contrast only 23 new stores were opened in 2023.
According to The US Sun Costco will also be unveiling its largest store to date along with these new stores. The new Costco location in Fresno California will be over 241000 square feet in size which is nearly 100000 square feet larger than a typical store. In addition to a regular storefront this location will feature an online fulfillment center a car wash and a gas station.
