CD Projekt Red has a recently updated support document detailing how it works. Although a few steps are necessary, if you want to continue your progress, you need to do it as soon as possible. Once Stadia is permanently shut down on January 18, 2023, you will no longer be able to recover this save, Radek Grabowski, CD Projekt Red's global PR director, confirmed to The Verge, meaning your progress will be lost forever.
One advantage of transferring your save files to PC is that you can use them with Cyberpunk 2077's cross-progression feature, meaning you can technically transfer your Stadia save files to the console as well. Of course, this requires you to own multiple copies of the game, but if you really want to be able to play your Stadia character on PS5, this can become a reality with a little work.
The surprise dissolution of Stadia (which, to be clear, won't happen until January) has forced users and developers to react. Google is offering refunds on Stadia hardware and software purchases, which is certainly a good thing, but it doesn't do much to help people who own a game on Stadia and want to continue playing it elsewhere.
Ubisoft(opens in a new tab), IO Interactive(opens in a new tab), Bungie(opens in a new tab) and Tequila Works(opens in a new tab) have all said they are exploring other options for their players on the platform, and now CD Projekt has given instructions on transferring Cyberpunk 2077 saved games from Stadia to other platforms.
The first half of the process is essentially an overview of how to use Google Takeout(opens in a new tab), a tool that allows users to export data from their Google accounts in order to back it up or use it with an external service. . It's pretty basic stuff:
Open takeout.google.com.
In the /"Create new export/" section, click /"Deselect all/" and select /"Stadia/". Tap /"Next step/" to continue.
Choose your preferred destination and “Export Once” frequency. Choose the file type /".zip/" and size /"2 GB/". Tap /"Create export/".
Download the export from the destination chosen in the previous step.
