How to disable (disable) Google Chat and Meet in Gmail sidebar? Workaround Note: If you turn these features off, you will no longer receive notifications from Google Chat or Meet. We recommend leaving it at work.
Click /"Settings/" (gear icon) in the upper right corner.
In the drop-down menu, click Show all settings.
Select the Chat & Meetings tab.
To disable the Google Chat section, select Disabled Chat
To disable the Google Meet panel, select /"Hide Meet panel from main menu/"

Important: If you turn off Google Chat in Gmail, also turn off chat rooms. If you want to continue using chat rooms in the new Gmail experience, you'll need to enable Google Chat. In short, disabling chat disables the associated room component.
