Easy Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

A Boston butt contrary to what the name suggests is actually a cut of pork. A Boston butt also known as a pork butt is a flavorful piece of meat that can be cooked well at a low temperature and slowly. It is the most popular cut of meat for pulled pork. The name Boston butt may have originated in Massachusetts before the American Revolution when cuts of pork were packed in barrels also known as "butts".

This easy no-frills pork butt recipe is made with just a few extra ingredients including your favorite homemade or store-bought barbecue sauce. You can use a bone-in or boneless pork roast; a boneless roast can be cut into pieces to fit in the slow cooker but if your roast is bone-in make sure it will fit before you begin the recipe.

Serve the pulled pork with toasted buns coleslaw and fries or chips. Baked beans are also traditional with a pulled pork meal. It’s a great dish to take to a party or tailgating event: serve the pulled pork hot from the slow cooker. You can freeze leftovers or use them in recipes that call for leftover pulled pork.
