The slow cooker can do a lot of things but perhaps most importantly it makes seriously delicious chili. Chili can certainly be made in 30 minutes or less but anyone who’s ever made chili will tell you that it tastes infinitely better when it’s simmered for hours. The slow cooker makes that easy so you can get on with your day while dinner cooks itself. In this easy slow cooker recipe for turkey chili creator Michelle McGlinn blends chipotle peppers into adobo and green chiles to turn up the heat and transform plain turkey into a seriously flavorful spicy chili. While turkey can sometimes be known for being dry and bland this recipe is anything but thanks to a helping of salty Worcestershire and a few key spices. If you’re used to beef chili you won’t miss it—you may even want to add this spicy turkey version to your regular rotation. If you’re looking for a way to warm up this winter this chipotle-stuffed chili will do the trick.

For the best flavor you’ll want to sauté a few things first so grab some olive oil. You’ll need yellow onion garlic and ground turkey to start. Then you’ll need Worcestershire sauce sweet potato kidney beans black beans green peppers and tomato paste. We used canned green peppers but if you can’t find them use diced jalapeños instead. Then grab a can of chipotles in adobo. You’ll need both the peppers and the sauce especially if you like it extra spicy. Then grab beef stock or broth salt pepper cumin and chili powder.

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Once the mixture is hot add the onion and garlic and cook for 2 minutes until soft and fragrant.
