As a kid I never saw anyone drink eggnog. My parents and grandparents never served it. My friends’ houses were all eggnog-free as far as I could tell. It became a sort of bogeyman to me something disgusting that shady uncles in books drank to stay warm.
As an adult however I have become a lover of eggnog. To me the good stuff tastes like rich spiced milk. It is custard but not eggy with rum or brandy or both. Yet I find it stale with tradition. The same old drink year after year after year. Eggnog needs to change. A way to get your guests excited again.
