VMware Workstation has a feature called Shared Folders that allows you to configure a network-like share on your host computer that your virtual machines can access. You can also configure it to map a drive. You will need to enable network discovery from the VM if you are not using the mapped drive feature.

This is different from the Guest Isolation feature which allows you to drag and drop files and copy and paste text between your host and virtual machines using the Workstation console.

Here is a summary of the process on our website.
