Fascinating Oil and Water Science Experiment for Kids

It's just fascinating to see how the color patterns formed in this experiment. You only need three simple ingredients, one minute to prepare it, and you will have an exciting activity for your children!
Food coloring is water-based and does not dissolve the oil, but if you mix them you will see many small droplets of food coloring stuck in the oil. However, food coloring is denser than oil and gradually the droplets will sink to the bottom of the oil layer, where they will meet the water and begin to color it. Have fun!
