Can a smartwatch save your life in case of a heart attack?

Smartwatches and smart rings can do some pretty cool things for your health like monitor your heart rate count your steps and take an ECG of your heart rhythm. And while many of them also claim to measure blood glucose (sugar) the accuracy of these devices for this purpose has been seriously questioned prompting a warning from the Food and Drug Administration .

The February 21 2024 warning states that devices claiming to measure blood sugar levels without piercing the skin are not FDA-approved and advises people to stop using them for this purpose.

This includes popular smartwatches but also lesser-known counterfeit brands. The same goes for the smart rings.
