I know I'm not the only one who has been persuaded to bake by a promising recipe title which is why I felt a mixture of happiness and empathy when I came across the feather cake post on Sheryl Lazarus' blog A Hundred Years .
She expected a light and velvety cake and found it delicious but noted that it did not live up to its name. As published I had to agree with her that it was definitely not light as a feather. So I set out on a mission to adapt the recipe and make it as light as a feather without straying too far from the 100+ year old original.
