Issue:
– I don't get the maximum refresh rate
– external monitor lags and plays high resolution videos intermittently

First of all:
1. Make sure your monitor supports 144Hz refresh rate
2. use the correct cable, I would recommend a DP to DP or USB-C to DP cable that supports 4K at 144Hz
3. Make sure your dock also supports 144Hz

Now, if you're still not getting max refresh rate, follow the video and you should be fine.

My laptop: Dell XPS 17 9700
My external monitor: Gigabyte M32U 4K 144hz
