If your iPhone is stuck on iMessage / “Waiting for activation /” screen in iOS 14, 12, 13, 11, 10 or 9, try these solutions to fix this terrible problem:
1. Turn iMessage and FaceTime off and on again
2. Restart your device and try sending a message again
3. Sign out and sign in again to your Apple ID
4. Contact your carrier to check if iMessage is allowed
5. Check if your date and time are correct
6. Check iMessage server status https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/
Another way to fix this problem is to update the carrier settings on your device. To do it manually, follow the steps here: https://www.unlockboot.com/manually-update-carrier-settings-on-iphone/
If that still doesn't work, try resetting your device's network settings https://www.unlockboot.com/reset-network-settings-on-iphone-ipad/
After resetting network settings, if you still can't activate iMessage, try factory resetting your iPhone or iPad https://www.unlockboot.com/factory-reset-iphone-7-plus-7 -6s-6-5s -5c-5/
