Flatpak Permissions – Terminal Controls and Flatseal UI
I am a very happy flatpak user. In general, they work very well with a few exceptions. One problem I've encountered repeatedly is with default permissions where I can't save a file from a flatpak app. This can be a major problem if you've spent time working on something and realize it's wasted effort. I've since started checking the default permissions of a given app to make sure this doesn't happen again.

You can set permissions from the terminal with 'flatpak override [app-id] –[permission]. In this video I use flatpak override –user net.xmind.XMind8 –filesystemhome for Xmind. Note that I include the –user option since I am installing flatpak at the user level instead of the system level.

Another much more convenient way to do this is to use a new tool called Flatseal. It provides a very nice user interface to view and manage permissions.
