Frank Brigtsen is a James Beard Award-winning chef from New Orleans and co-owner of Brigtsen's Restaurant with his wife Marna. He trained under Paul Prudhomme at Commander's Palace Restaurant and became night chef and then executive chef at K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen before opening Brigtsen's in 1986. A fourth-generation New Orleans native Frank is deeply committed to preserving New Orleans' culinary traditions; following Hurricane Katrina when many local chefs left the area Frank turned his attention to culinary education. He taught Creole and Acadian cuisine at Nicholls State University for 17 years and was the first chef-in-residence at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. In addition to the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Southeast Frank was selected as one of the top 10 new chefs in America by Food & Wine and has been featured on the PBS series Great Chefs of New Orleans. In his spare time Frank enjoys reading historical non-fiction and rewatching his favorite films Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2.
