The new Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are two great watches for Android users, but which one is actually better? After a month of use, I found a few drawbacks to consider as well as some pleasant surprises.

So I love the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and have been wearing it since its release about a month ago, but there is one huge flaw that wasn't really mentioned when it was released. This is a flaw that almost made me switch back to Garmin watches. I can't believe Samsung let this happen, but we'll get to that in a minute.

START WITH A FEW POSITIVES:
Raised edge makes the touch bezel easier to use
Personally, I really like the look and design of this one

THE INCONVENIENTS:
GPS is super accurate when it works, but sometimes it doesn't work
I had enabled location
I didn't start automatically, it was started manually
This was in an area where GPS worked well before

The Strava link is garbage. I run 4 miles and it tells Strava I ran 3.4 – why?
I think it's because sometimes the GPS signal isn't found until you've already run for almost a mile – see the August 29 race.

Honestly, a large bezel is unacceptable
Better on the Pro

Pro needs more buttons or things that actually move (like a crown or bezel)

Compass watch face has issues

The thickness specifications are misleading: the thickness is not 10.55mm, but 15mm.
Regular watch measures 9.5mm as advertised, 13mm in reality
Bravo to DCrainmaker for these measures

BENEFITS:
Very tactile buttons
I still like the pro strap
Very precise HR
Fairly accurate GPS, but some meander from time to time. Typically within 0.1 mile per 4 mile run
Great battery!
I love in-depth running analytics that tell me all about my running symmetry as well as how to improve it (e.g. leg spring stiffness).

WHAT TO BUY:
I recommend the regular watch 5
