Giada De Laurentiis reveals her olive oil beauty hacks

In an Instagram video De Laurentiis shot while shopping at Bay Cities Italian Deli & Bakery in Santa Monica California she revealed that she uses two different types of olive oil in her kitchen: one for cooking and one for dipping. For cooking she keeps a bottle of Lucini Extra Virgin Olive Oil on hand. This all-purpose olive oil has a low acidity because it’s cold-pressed and a really balanced flavor making it an ideal oil for cooking. For dipping however De Laurentiis prefers something a little more flavorful.

Even though extra virgin olive oils aren’t traditionally used for cooking Lucini Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a light flavor that Giada De Laurentiis loves. However she cautions chefs to avoid cooking with it at high temperatures as extra virgin olive oils have a low smoke point which causes them to break down more quickly than other oils at high temperatures. (So if you tend to cook at higher temperatures you’re better off buying a refined olive oil.)

For dipping De Laurentiis said she prefers a spicier option Paesano Unfiltered Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This award-winning bottle delivers a spicy flavor with a delicious buttery mouthfeel and peppery finish. Because it’s unfiltered it has extra nuances with notes of artichoke and almond making it a great choice for finishing dishes with a touch of savory goodness.
