In this video we will look at Google Doc Translator and how to translate large PDF files. I will demonstrate two examples, one is a well-written PDF novel and the other is an old and large PDF document created by compiling images instead of written text. We'll first look at some of the limitations of Google's free online document translator, and then I'll suggest a method for translating large PDF files.
Normally, when you translate a PDF, there are three steps, and when you translate a large PDF, there are two additional steps.
The steps to translate a small pdf are therefore
Open with Google Docs
Translate a document
Save as PDF
Because we want the result in a pdf file which is considered the best file format for important documents.
Now, when we want to translate a large PDF file, such as a book or a thesis, there are two important problems.
The number of pages Google Docs is able to extract as a Google Doc. For example, if you have a book with 800 pages, Google Docs can only extract 100 of them.
The second problem is that the document translator can translate even less than the 100 pages extracted by Google Docs.
We will look at the limitations of the Google Doc Translator and the workaround to resolve both of these issues when translating large PDF files.
