In some cases, you will need to merge some cells and combine them to create a single cell. This can involve merging cells into rows or columns (or both).
An example of this is when you have a header that is the same for multiple columns and you need to merge the cells to make the header look like one.
Note: When you merge cells that already contain content, the final merge cell will only retain the contents of the top left-most cell. The rest of the content will be lost. Fortunately, when this situation arises, Google Sheets notifies you with a prompt and only merges the cells when you click OK.
