The last time I was in Rome Wayne and I kept finding ourselves in the Testaccio neighborhood. It’s across the river and a bit of a walk from the historic center than Trastevere but it’s the real deal. Anyone who’s been here knows that finding a corner of Rome that isn’t overrun with tourists can be a challenge but Testaccio is one of them. The bustling locals-frequented market acts as the hub of the neighborhood and there’s a bakery espresso bar and pizzeria on almost every block. We’ve rented an apartment here for a few weeks and I thought I’d share some photos along with a recipe for a nut-studded coleslaw-style green bean salad that I made for lunch yesterday from a few things I picked up from nearby shops and stalls.
