I'm Heidi – This site celebrates cooking and aims to help you incorporate the power of lots of vegetables and whole foods into your daily meals. The recipes you'll find here are vegetarian often vegan and written with the home cook in mind. This site has been my online "home base" for almost twenty years. It was originally built on the premise that once you own over 100 cookbooks (raise your hand!) it's time to stop buying and start cooking. This site chronicles a cookbook collection one (vegetarian) recipe at a time. But there's more to the story now that we're a few decades into it here's a little background on me and the site…

This time last month I set off on a trip that began with a flight via Charles de Gaulle airport to Marrakech where we spent most of the week in the historic medina. From there it was a train ride to Fez where we stayed in the restored residence of a 17th century imam and wandered the medina’s thousands of intricate alleyways without a guide eating beghrir and msemmen. I loved seeing the historic madrassas in both cities and made an effort to end each day on one of the many high terraces scanning the rooftops with my eyes. There were ancient blind alleys communal taxi rides dreams of orange blossom and lots of bad French (on my part). We returned via Paris before catching the long flight home to San Francisco with an extra suitcase and the runny remnants of a nasty cold. Three weeks out of a small suitcase and as much as I love exploring far-flung cities it is indeed nice to be home.
