HDR is a disaster on PC
HDR is a great way to improve your game's visuals by increasing dynamic range, allowing for brighter highlights and more shadow detail. In fact, HDR may be the biggest visual improvement you can make to your display, and for little to no performance cost, it's much more practical than something like ray tracing. That said, it might not be for everyone, because at least on PC, HDR is a bit of a mess.
