The POOR MAN'S COVERED CALL is a hidden gem among options trading strategies. Not many people know this, but it is possible and will probably bring you significant profits. In today's episode on How Options Trading Works, I'm going to explain the PMCC strategy by going over the basics, showing you a real-life example, and letting you know which stocks I think are would work best with the poor man's covered call option. Your profit is the difference in strikes * 100, minus the debit for a long call and plus the initial credit received for a short call.
Correction: At 5:55 p.m. I said you would lose 257 if the AAPL short call expired in the money. What ACTUALLY happens when a short call expires ITM for a poor covered call is that you will have to sell 100 shares at your strike price. Your broker will exercise your long call to buy your 100 shares on your behalf and then sell them via your short call option.
