Make your own beef jerky | Food Wishes

Paleo gluten free and Keto friendly if you need a quick nutritious bite that you can easily take with you this is a great option.

Beef is a great base for a jerky because it absorbs flavor well and is firm and chewy but you can also use other meats such as elk venison turkey goose or bison. Always use good cuts of meat the better the original ingredient the better the jerky. For great jerky choose lean cuts such as sirloin flank steak eye round or top round. Typically you will get a third of the original meat weight (3:1) so although our recipe is measured for 3 pounds of meat (1 pound jerky) you can scale it up or down if you are making smaller or larger quantities.

Jerky needs to marinate. Start with this teriyaki marinade and try other variations at the end. This dry rub is a standard mix but feel free to add other spices like cinnamon chili powder ginger or nutmeg to create different flavor profiles. There is no perfect flavor for either marinade or dry rub.
