How to make easy homemade rye bread
For as long as I knew my friend George he was an avid bread baker. When I visited him at his home in Carlisle Massachusetts he often had a loaf of freshly baked rye bread for us to enjoy.
One time when George came to visit my family in Carmichael I let him go to work and he showed me how he makes his rye bread.
Rye bread is simply bread made with rye flour. Rye has an earthy flavor and by using more or less of it in combination with other flours a loaf will get more or less of that flavor. Rye bread is often made with additives such as molasses and cocoa powder which add color and flavor. Caraway seeds can also be added for an even more distinctive flavor.
