They work by gaining a person's trust over the phone or online and convincing someone they need to send money to solve a problem. Or that the person has won money and needs to spend a little to get it. And while it may seem crazy to randomly give someone who called you out of the blue your banking information, scammers have methods that are extremely convincing to many people. In this video we take a closer look at how these companies operate. We look at the types of scam calls they make and how they work. We explain how they can attempt various scams and how they manage to steal so much money from people all over the world. The majority of scams tend to rely on a combination of technologies: selecting the right victim, persuasion over the phone, instilling a sense of urgency, etc. We also talk about a few groups that are fighting against fraudulent call centers by exposing them online and playing pranks on them. And why the police don't seem to want to do anything about these scams.
