We look at how to center your taskbar items in Windows 10. (How to Center the Taskbar in Windows 10) This video will walk you through the process step by step and show you how to make Windows look better. A Lenovo Legion T530-28ICB Windows computer was used to make this video.

There may be many reasons why you want to center your taskbar icons, maybe you want it: a clean/modern desktop look, better workflow or you are trying to make your desktop looks like Windows 11, etc. So, in essence, we are looking at how to center Windows 10 taskbar icons like Windows 11. No apps/programs or software are required, so no third-party software. A few simple changes are required to configure your taskbar. So we show you how to center taskbar icons as part of customizing your Windows desktop.

THE DETAIL – HOW TO CENTER THE TASKBAR ICONS – MAKE WINDOWS 10 BETTER

STEP 1 – UNLOCK THE TASKBAR1:00
Hover over the taskbar. Right-click while hovering and move up to “lock taskbar”. Left click to unlock the taskbar.

STEP 2 – SHOW LINK TEXT/LINES 1:23
Next, hover over the taskbar. Right-click the mouse and scroll to “toolbars,” then “links.” Left-click to apply this toolbar as shown. The word “links” appears on the toolbar (2 vertical lines).

STEP 3 – SWIPE LINKS TEXT/LINES TO THE LEFT 1:40
In the taskbar, hover over the double vertical lines appearing to the left of the link text – the mouse pointer changes to a double-headed yellow arrow. Left mouse click – the pointer turns into a black two-headed arrow. While holding the mouse button, drag the double vertical lines to the left side of the screen and over the app icons until you are left with 2 apps to the left of two vertical lines in the bar stain. Release the mouse button.

STEP 4 – SWIPE THE APPS RIGHT TO THE CENTER OF THE SCREEN 2:19
Move the mouse cursor to the left and hover over another set of two vertical lines as shown – the pointer changes to a double yellow arrow. Left mouse click – the pointer turns into a black two-headed arrow. While holding the left button, drag double vertical lines to the right side of the monitor. The two vertical lines and the “links” text to the right of applications/programs have now been moved to the left. All programs on the taskbar will also reappear to the right of two vertical lines that you drag to the right. Continue moving the vertical lines and icons until they are centered on the screen. Release the mouse button.

STEP 5 – HIDE TEXT / LINK LINES 3:00
Move the mouse to the left and hover over the “links” text. Right click and scroll up to “show text”. Left-click to uncheck. Repeat – right click on the 'links' text and scroll up to 'show title'. Left-click to uncheck the option. The “links” text disappears from the toolbar.

STEP 6 – LOCK THE TASKBAR IN PLACE 3:15
Finally, hover over the taskbar where there are no icons and right-click. Go to “lock taskbar”. Left click – locks the taskbar.

Your taskbar icons on your Windows PC are now centered and locked.

EXTRA TIP – RE-CENTER THE TASKBAR AFTER ADDING MORE APPS 3:29
If you pin other apps to your taskbar, they may not appear centered. You may need to re-center your taskbar – hovering over the taskbar, right-click, move up to “lock taskbar”. Left click to unlock the taskbar. Recenter your taskbar by moving the two vertical lines to the left of the taskbar apps left/right until they are centered. To relock the taskbar, hover over the taskbar where there are no icons, etc., right-click, go to “lock taskbar”. Left click – locks the taskbar in place.
