How to change your computer's default time zone

In this video I want to show you how to change your default time zone on your Windows trading computer.

Today I'm using Windows 7. For those of you who don't live on the East Coast but spend most of your trading day paying attention to the Eastern Time Zone, you may want to- be change your default time zone. This way, all your trading software and other applications will be synchronized to the New York US East Coast time zone. I like to see the trade date and time as well as the trading day in Eastern Time. To do this I need to change my computer's clock.

So what you are going to do is navigate to the bottom left corner of Windows 7. Click on the Start menu. In the right sidebar of the Start menu, click Control Panel. In Control Panel, click the clock language and region. Next, you will change the time zone which is the middle link in the dialog box. Under date and time, you can now change the time zone. It's located under the Time Zone section, roughly in the middle of this dialog box. The time zone settings will give you a drop-down menu. You'll want to go to -5 UTC US and Canadian Eastern Time. You can keep the default check box selected to automatically adjust the clock for daylight saving time. Then you will click OK, click Apply, and then click OK. Then you can check that the time settings have changed in the lower right corner. If at any time you want to reset your computer's time zone to your current time, if it is not Eastern Time, you can return to the Start menu. Go to control panel, clock, then change time zone. You can click Change Time Zone again and return to the time zone you need.
